If you have talked to me lately you have probably heard it over and over....."I have A LOT going on right now!!" One of the things that Jillian and I both have been hard at work at is our new La Storia website, and it is time to share it with the WORLD! There is still a bit of work to be done, but who are we to keep all this wonderfulness to ourselves?? ;)
Jillian and I will be posting sneak peaks there and it will also be a place that you can check in on to see what events, promotions, and important dates are coming up!!
See you over there!
OH! and be sure to leave a comment or two to let us know you have stopped in!
After a looong three days of waiting in St.Paul's Hospital downtown Vancouver my best girl Bobby gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl. It was love at first sight....and let me tell you, she was worth the wait!
Here are a few shots from the time I spent in the hospital with them:
Phew...it has been a busy week. Most of it has been a blur but in the midst of all the chaos I had the opportunity to photograph the newest member of the family, baby Nate. At 2.5 weeks he was fully aware that Mom and I wanted him sleeping for baby photos and was not having it.....amazing how quickly they grow up and start thinking for themselves :)
It was so great to finally meet him.....my little "nephew" Nate.
It isn't looking so pretty around here these days is it? In my opinion this blog is just plain U.G.L.Y...with the exception of all the gorgeous people I photograph of course!! :)
Bet let me tell you....when you see the new one it is going to be a whole lot prettier! I can't wait to share it with you all!
I am in the middle of a crazy time! Bare with me as I sort through my to-do list that is miles long. Lots of exciting things coming up that I will be posting about through out the weeks to come!
Also some of you have noticed that my website no longer exists, we are gearing up for the launch of our new La Storia Website so I have taken my www.shannonstevenson.ca site down to make room for the new one! If you are interested in seeing my portfolio in during this time of transition please email me at shannon@lastoriastudios.com
First of all I would like to thank you all for such a
successful year!! 2008 has been a great year for me personally as well as for
my business.
Now you are wondering why in August am I talking of a great
2008?? I mean there is over 4 months left in the year right?? ....yes, there
are....BUT, all of my sessions in 2008 are completely booked up!! Can you believe
it?? My first year in business and I am booking 3-4months in advance!! It has been overwhelming and I have loved
every minute of it!!
Now for the BIG announcement that we have been bursting to
yell from the roof tops but have had to keep it on the down low until some of
the finer details were ironed out. You remember Jillian Kirby right? (check her out HERE too!!) Well, she and I
have been hanging out a lot recently....talking and planning and just plain
having a great time...what have we been talking about and planning you ask?
The official Launch of:
We are just so excited about this!
How it will work??
Jillian Kirby is an amazing photographer whom specializes in
Maternity and Newborn portraiture. Then you add, Shannon Stevenson (me!!), whom specializes
in children and family portraiture. Then the best addition is that we both LOVE working
with couples during the exciting process of them getting married; engagement sessions,
weddings, and trashing the dress are all fav’s of ours!
So why merge our businesses you ask??
We both share an extreme passion for the art of photography and
we want to share what we do with as many people as we possibly can. We found
that we were sending each other referrals so often that one day it just clicked;
if we teamed up, together we would be
able to achieve our vision of creating a unique, urban, contemporary full service photography studio
that specializes in documenting the most precious moments in life. The luxury
of having portrait specialists working together to create keepsakes for each
family as it grows from engagements to weddings, pregnancy to first born, then capturing
the moments and minutes of families as they expand is priceless. So the question is, how could we NOT do it!!
What Important Dates must you know about??
October 1st @ 8am phone lines will open for maternity/newborn
and children/family bookings during the months of January –March (more
details to come!)
January 1st -Official Launch of La Storia Studios
Note: We are currently taking wedding bookings for 2009!
When can you get more details??
We are working hard on the details and will have more
information soon. Follow this blog for more information over the coming weeks!!
Please feel free to leave my wonderful friend Kathy a comment on this Slideshow....she worked so hard on this for us at a time that is so busy for her....so send her some lovin'!!!
Gotta run, have a slideshow to watch over and over and over!!
Kathy is not only my friend, but a fabulous photographer. She was so kind as to take the time out of her own busy life and come over from Vancouver Island to the Mainland to photograph my beautiful family. It was a wonderful session out in Fort Langley, (minus the mosquito's!!!) and a very interesting experience for me to be in front of the camera.....it was too FUN!!
Check out Kathy's BLOG for a Sneak Peak HERE !! Be sure to leave a comment her a comment!! (Us photographers love comments you know...hint hint!!)
It feels like forever since I have posted, but not to worry I am back! Lots going on here in the Stevenson household....but I will save all the news for another time because I am just too excited to post a sneak peak for the wonderful little family I met this morning.
Little V was so cute I just couldn't get enough of him! A very smart little guy too, here he is teaching his parents all about bones, including taking time to point out where Mommy's clavicle is....
and one of Little V watching my fingers as I worked my gear:

Thank you M family! I had a wonderful morning, and it was defiantly worth getting up so early :)
You know when just can't choose between things because you love them all so so much? Well, today I am having that issue....so many favorites from this session I just can't choose which photos to post. I wish I could post them all!!
Thanks Gord and Angela, I had a wonderful time with you both and I can't wait to meet the little one!!
Thanks to Jillian Kriby for snapping this photo during our visit with all the kids to the Greater Vancouver Zoo a few days ago. If you haven't checked out her stuff already, do it now! www.jilliankirbyphotography.com
NOTE: (can someone tell me how to insert links??.... since typepad changed things around I can't figure it out! I feel like I am loosing my mind here!!)
I could go on and on about how much I love this girl, how proud I am of her and everything she does, how I am so excited to see her in love, how much faith I will have in her as a new mother.....but if you know me, you already know how I feel about her...my best friend, my sister....
It's my very own bested friend in the whole wide wonderful world...Miss Bobby!!
...more to come tomorrow....I am so excited about these photos, I cannot wait to share more!! BUT I must get some sleep or else my kids will have one grumpy Mom to deal with in the morning ;)
Already? What? Seems a bit odd to me. I am too young for my first born to be graduating. Today, I have been told....I am not.
The ceremony took place in Owen's Preschool Class room where Teacher Kim had set up rows of seats for us teary eyed parents to watch our little one's parade in, sing songs, and receive their completion certificates. I was so proud of our Owen when he walked in, he stood right in the middle of the room looking left and right, left and right..... until he saw me standing in the back waving, his smile then spread so proud across his face and he shouted out "where's Finny???" I guess he thought I had left his little brother in the car????????...Owen was happy to find out that Finton was in his stroller next to me. Owen then continued to dance and sing as Teacher Kim read a very moving poem she had written for the children....and I won't mention how many times he tapped the hat on the kid next to him like a drum while they performed their parting song. Like I said, it was a very emotional day, sigh....yes....such a proud Mother I am.

A little celebration of the great things to come in Kindergarten:
Tonight I posted the gallery of a dear client cousin of mine. While I was checking that everything was just right for her and the family I paused at this moment in the slide show, a moment that I have seen happen between them often, a jewel to have it preserved forever...for generations to come. The life, the laugher....
I keep coming back to this image, I adore it. Grandma fixing little I's hair. A moment so special but so often overlooked. It is capturing moments like this, so random, so powerful, that make my heart sing.
and another shot of little I with her hair all in place :)
ADORABLE: The pose she had been practicing with Aunty and Grandma.
So this week has been absolute madness....not only am I in full swing photography heaven, but we have had a week of construction at the house, and I have a killer cold that I can't seem to shake. ugh. I am catching up though and just wanted to post this sneak peak for Jen and family before I go cuddle up on the couch with a cuppa!
Held my first Mini Session yesterday. I had an absolute blast! I know there are a few of you out there waiting for this...so here are a couple from the day!
I have a few outtakes I might just have to post later....so check back!
Jillian and I went out last night to get some shots of her to use on her website. We started in the beautiful Fort Langley, and when headed back home we came across this:
....can't you just picture it.... two photographers, squealing with excitement, swinging the truck around, screeching to a stop, jumping out, fumbling with equipment, then pausing for a second to contemplate weather or not there will be snakes.....
...worth it, don't you think:
Thanks Jill, I had a wonderful time! Can't wait for our next evening out, talking shop, pigging out on dessert and sharing many giggles!
I get to wake up on mornings like today and spend time photographing beautiful people, today this strikes me extra hard. You know when you meet someone and you can just feel their energy? They have that certain spark? Well, today i met a whole family like that. Their chemistry is magic. Absolutely magic.
This on gets me every time I look at it, girlie giggles:
